Prerequisites:

  • JRN 110 or any equivalent beginning news writing course.
  • Language proficiency is NOT required.

Cost:

Estimated total cost: $5,000. That includes airfare, food, tuition, local transportation, health insurance and housing, among other things.

Host University in China – Tsinghua University

Most national and international university rankings place Tsinghua as a top university in China. Admission to Tsinghua is extremely competitive. Every year, a vast majority of applicants scoring the highest in the national Entrance Exams (the Chinese equivalent to the American SAT) choose Tsinghua, and 28 of the 30 top scores in each province/area choose the university. The majority of selected students are national scholars and among the brightest high school graduates in the country.

Tsinghua University School of Journalism

Established in 2002, the Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communications has quickly emerged as one of China’s leading Journalism schools. The Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communications is known for its research in journalism, political commutations, film, and television, new media studies, international communications, and media management. The school’s diverse faculty has 26 full-time professors and lectures. Many hold doctoral degrees and most have studied abroad. Its 275 undergraduate and graduate students are selected on the basis of highly competitive nationwide exams. In addition, more than 2,000 part-time students pursue further study while working in areas ranging from government communication to broadcast management.
