Frédéric Courbet started his career by producing and shooting commercial stills in Europe. In 2005 he moved to Kenya to work as a free-lance photographer based in East Africa.

Since then he has covered reportages in more than 15 countries in Africa, including Somalia, Nigeria, South-Sudan, Zimbabwe and DRC.

Working on features for newspapers and assignments for many NGO’s and foundations, his work has been published in The Guardian, The Mail on Sunday, The Observer, Suddeutsh Zeitung, Der Spiegel, The New York Times, TIME Magazine, Le Monde, Monocle and Courrier International.

His reportages for Merlin UK on Central African Republic’s health care situation was exhibited in London at the Barbican venue and his images from DRC used for their latest television campaign.

His latest assignment for National Geographic Channel combined stills and moving images as Frederic started filming on a long term project on the Turkana community living in the Northern territories of Kenya.

Frédéric speaks fluent English and French.
