Demonstrating in Gwanghwamun Square, Koreans petition the government to atone for the failed rescue attempt of the Sewol Ferry, a boat that sank in 2014 and brought down more than 300 lives with it. The protesters accuse the government of interfering with the independence of the investigation of the accident and call for a complete criminal investigation. They also demand that the remaining 10 bodies of victims and the wreck of the Sewol be recovered, along with a complete examination of the ship’s remains.
